Previously known as ‘Technique’.

A three-day course focused on the structure and discipline behind great salon haircuts.

Designed for experienced stylists who want to strengthen their technical understanding, this course explores the principles that give haircuts clarity, balance and control.

Through demonstrations, discussion and hands-on workshop sessions you will develop a deeper understanding of sectioning, elevation, weight distribution and shape building – helping you approach every haircut with greater confidence and consistency.

You will look closely at sectioning, elevation, distribution and shape building, and how these technical choices determine the final result. By the end of the course you will have a deeper understanding of how haircuts are constructed, helping you approach every client with greater confidence, consistency and technical control.

Is this course for me?

This course is designed for working stylists who want to strengthen the technical thinking behind their haircuts.

It is particularly valuable for stylists who:

  • want to improve consistency and control in their cutting
  • feel confident behind the chair but want to refine their technical understanding
  • want to understand the reasoning behind cutting decisions rather than simply following steps
  • are interested in the structure and discipline that underpin great haircuts

If you already cut regularly in the salon but want to deepen your understanding of the craft, this course will give you the tools to approach cutting with greater clarity and confidence.

Key Learning Outcomes:

During the course you will explore:

  • The structural principles that underpin strong haircuts
  • Sectioning strategies that support clarity and control
  • Elevation and distribution and how they influence weight and movement
  • Techniques for building balanced and reliable shapes
  • How technical choices affect the final result of a haircut
  • How to approach cutting with greater consistency and repeatability

The focus throughout the course is understanding. Once the logic of cutting becomes clear, stylists gain far greater control over the results they create.

8:1 Student Teacher Ratio

Everyone learns differently, with their own strengths, challenges, and pace. That’s why we keep our student-to-teacher ratio intentionally low. It means you’ll always have the chance to ask questions, get direct feedback, and work closely with our educators in a way that simply isn’t possible in larger groups.

With more individual guidance, we can spot and support the areas you need most, helping you refine your technique and build confidence step by step. You’ll leave not only with new skills but with a deeper understanding of the craft – and the tools to keep progressing long after the course ends.

A creative space in the heart of London

Our academy sits between Holborn and Covent Garden, a lively and fashionable part of central London that’s easy to reach and full of inspiration. Housed on the fourth floor of a listed Georgian townhouse, it combines character and charm with a calm, light-filled atmosphere.

High ceilings, original period features, and plenty of natural light make it a space that feels both open and welcoming. With small class sizes, it’s designed to be intimate and focused, giving you the perfect setting to learn, connect, and refine your craft.
